Oxalis Design

Our Skills and Expertise

Electronics Design & PCB Development

Electronics hardware design is at the heart of what we do – schematic capture and PCB development, often using advanced design techniques, high density layouts, ultra-miniaturised designs, and flexible PCBs.

Embedded Software

Our in-house software capabilities across C/C++ firmware development and a wealth of embedded platforms and RTOSs mean that we’re positioned to develop end-to-end integrated electronics solutions.

RF & Wireless Connectivity

Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi, Thread, Matter, NB-IoT, cellular, and LoRa integration. Our capabilities range from RF design and antenna tuning, to regulatory compliance.

Innovation & Development

Being an agile team allows us to quickly test ideas, develop proof-of-concept demonstrators, and rapidly iterate designs using off-the-shelf platforms.

Electromechanical Systems

Integrating electronics with mechanical systems is a key competency at Oxalis, including motor control algorithms, control system design, and automation.

App & Cloud Integration

Wireless cloud integration, architecting cloud services, and developing front-end Android applications are all within our in-house capabilities.

Why Work With Us?

It’s not just a tagline; we are truly passionate about what we do. We all got our start in electronics through tinkering and hobbies growing up, and have since developed our skills as makers and engineers through more than 25 years of collective experience working in the consulting industry. As well as our individual passions for electronics, we are all keen to work on projects that tie into our personal interests; involving anything from an early idea to bringing products into people’s hands.

Early Concept & Innovation

We’re here to help with your ideation, initial proof-of-concept, or even just to run your ideas past us. Being an agile team means we can innovate rapidly to develop an idea.

Prototyping, Development & Test

Early stage prototyping, product development, and design iteration are our bread and butter, whether it’s the next generation of an existing product, early conceptualisation, or a custom test setup for a production line.

Full Product Lifecycle & DFM

With experience in each stage of electronics development, we can guide taking your design to market. Optimising an existing design, starting a new development cycle, or anything in between – we have the expertise to help.

Meet The Team

Alex is an experienced electronics and software engineer and co-founder of Oxalis Design. He has over 10 years of industry expertise in consulting, and a further 2 years as a hardware contractor. In his time working in a wide variety of sectors, he has become skilled at embedded firmware development, app integration, DFM, and embedded circuit design. Coming from a family background in commercial growing, he is passionate about developments in agritech and the integration of technology in outdoor applications.

Before co-founding Oxalis, Alex built over 6 years of experience working in a consultancy environment across medical, consumer, light industrial and beverage industries. He has a particular focus on hardware design, IoT, and wireless technologies, which he has leveraged for a number of personal projects in home automation, environment monitoring and lighting. In his free time he enjoys cooking, gardening and almost any aquatic sport.

Kieran is a keen electronics and software engineer with a focus on mechatronics, which has led to a passion in applying smooth motion control to a number of applications. He has experience working in the medical, consumer and aerial drone sectors, as well as a wealth of knowledge in 3D printing and rapid prototyping. Outside of work he is typically found in a number of outdoor pursuits, including surfing, skiing, and road cycling.

Rhys, is an electronics engineer with over 10 years of experience in a mixture of consultancy and medical environments. His main area of expertise is in high-speed and radio frequency (RF) design, and in taking these complex devices through regulatory approval and to market. In his spare time, Rhys is a keen cyclist, climber, and carer for the office mascot Gus the Spaniel.

Oli joined Oxalis after completing his masters in Aerospace Electronic Engineering at Southampton University. He is passionate about miniaturised electronics, challenging designs, and hands-on debugging and test. Outside of work he regularly competes internationally in Taekwondo and loves cooking.

Harry is a multidisciplinary engineer with a background in CFD, simulation, and firmware and software development. He joined Oxalis after recently working in green tech and before that a number of years in a medical device design consultancy. Harry’s passions include surfing, squash, and illustration.
